TRUSTEESHIP COUNCIL 2ND SESSION : 2ND PART OFFICIAL RECORDS 18 FEBRUARY-10 MARCH 1948 (FROM THE 19TH MEETING TO THE 35TH MEETING)
In the first place the City of Jerusalem, by any standard, was an integral part of Palestine. (...) The fact that it was a city sacred to three religions provided no legal basis for separation. (...) That problem had been dealt with by the General Assembly, and the Trusteeship Council had been given the specific task of drawing up a statute for the City of Jerusalem and of administering the City on behalf of the United Nations.
