Numerous studies have linked antioxidants to a reduced risk of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases and certain cancers. The research team concluded that a switch to eating organic fruit, vegetable and cereals – and food made from them – would provide additional antioxidants equivalent to eating between one and two extra portions of fruit and vegetables a day, full report at: http://www.globalresearch.ca/poisoned-food-poisoned-agriculture-getting-... dmill/5485076 I have provided the required evidence to support Jomo's presentation, contributed earlier.

The major macronutrients, vitamins and minerals as well as antioxidants and some anti-nutrients were reported. Methods Varietal differences in nutrient composition were found for all nutrients analyzed. Depending on the variety, potatoes can be a valuable source of minerals such as potassium, magnesium and phosphorus, and also of dietary antioxidants. A high content of vitamin C enhances iron absorption, and high vitamin C / high iron potato varieties could significantly contribute to achieve the daily vitamin C and iron requirements. (...) A high variability was also found for vitamin C and dietary antioxidants, the highest antioxidant activity being measured in wild Solanum species.
