The Human Rights Committee has emphasized that “free communication of information and ideas about public and political issues between citizens, candidates and elected representatives is essential. (...) In the Joint Declaration on Freedom of Expression and “Fake News”, Disinformation and Propaganda, my mandate together with other regional freedom of expression experts stressed that the “human right to impart information and ideas is not limited to “correct” statements, and “protects information and ideas that may shock, offend, and disturb”. When such a person begins to put his or her idea into practice, it will likely create new jobs and manifestly help boost the local economy—especially in developing countries, where the baseline is lower. You have to face the competing claims for water and energy. • Revolution calls for revolution in ideas, revolution in technologies, revolution in policies, market access and financial means. (...) In the discussions I have heard excellent ideas and saw many proposed actions. The five winners from the 2019 competition, who are also presenters at the summit, received financial support and an opportunity to travel to Japan to develop their ideas further. His Excellency Masayuki Magoshi, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs, and Representative of Japan to Palestine, highlighted that the agricultural sector is key to food security and job creation and exports but there has been a structural decline of the agricultural sector over the past years, impacting the economy. We look forward to hear your ideas on how to effectively use innovation in agriculture towards more sustainable practices, diversifying job opportunities for youth, particularly women, increasing agricultural productivity and improving competitiveness in the market,” she added. Following the two symposiums, the five winners from the year before were given the space to present their ideas and accomplishments and motivate other youth and entrepreneurs, especially females, to participate in the AgriTech sector.

That shows that the words that are drafted  and the ideas that are generated here in Kyoto carry great significance!  (...) In ITU, we need time to digest  these ideas and at the next symposium, in London on 17­18 June, hosted  by BT, we will further refine these ideas.  (...) We will study seriously  the Chairman’s excellent summary of this symposium to adapt our future  strategy.

Throughout the session, from the General Debate in September up to now, our aim has been to identify the challenges we are facing, to find out answers and solutions, and come up with some alternative tools and mechanisms. Brilliant ideas and proposals have been put forward by Member States and other actors, on how to render mediation more effective. I am very pleased to see that those ideas have already started to be developed, and concrete deliberations and actions have been taken place to materialize the proposals.

Ladies and gentlemen, Let me say again how much I have appreciated meeting all the known faces, as well as the new Commissioners here today, bringing all their ideas, insights, resources and energy to the cause of ' Broadband for All' . We've heard some very good ideas, and now the Secretariat will take the time to reflect on them, digest and consider, before incorporating your ideas into our updated strategy document. I also welcome the idea of the new Working Group on Content Platforms, I should like to commend Jeff Sachs for his excellent suggestion and propose him as Chair.
