Victims of trafficking for the purpose of forced labour and labour exploitation make
up 14 per cent of trafficking cases reported via the national hotline/textline.8 The victims
are mainly from Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines and South Africa, held temporary,
non-immigrant visas (mostly A-3, B-1, G-5, H-2A, H-2B, J-1 and H-1B) and were
employed in agriculture, landscaping, hospitality, restaurants and domestic work, among
others.9 Labour exploitation is, at times, accompanied by sexual abuse.
