For example, Google gives its Android operating system free of charge to mobile telephone manufacturers, thereby enabling it to collect user data.12 In addition, Google provides many other services, including video sharing, price comparison, cloud computing and online payment system services, and these have provided additional consumer data, increasing the quality of, on the one hand, its search engine services, and on the other hand, the value of data sold to advertisers for better-targeted advertising.
