Relationship to other websites 25 10. Tracking and evaluation 30 11. (...) RECOMMENDATION NO. 38: TRADE INFORMATION PORTALS
Experience has shown, through website usage analytical tools, that often the majority of hits to a website derive from referrals from other websites—in other words, from users clicking on links on these websites or selecting embedded content from the TIP on the websites of other agencies. (...) Another possibility is to make advertising space available on the website, although this would run the risk of diminishing the authoritative nature of the website as it may be seen to promote specific commercial interests. 65. (...) When designing a TIP, issues of interoperability with other systems, such as a Customs tariff database or regional repositories mentioned below, should be factored into the design of the software if required.
