Rear Admiral Ríos has had a distinguished career in the Argentinean Navy since 1988, when he graduated from the Navy Academy as Middleshipman. (...) He has also served as a Humanitarian Demining Supervisor with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Angola (1997-1998).
Rear Admiral Ríos speaks fluent English and basic Portuguese and Russian.

Amendment of law as to jurisdiction of the Admiral
2. An offence committed by a person, whether he is or is not a subject of Her Majesty, on the open sea within the territorial waters of Her Majesty's dominions, is an offence within the jurisdiction of the Admiral, although it may have been committed on board or by means of a foreign ship, and the person who committed such offence may be arrested, tried and punished accordingly.
(...) Proceedings for the trial and punishment of a person who is not a subject of Her Majesty, and who is charged with any such offence as is declared by this Act to be within the jurisdiction of the Admiral, shall not be instituted in any court of the United Kingdom, except with the consent of one of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, and on his certificate that the institution of such proceedings is in his opinion expedient, and shall not be instituted in any of the dominions of Her Majesty out of the United Kingdom, except with the leave of the Governor of the part of the dominions in which such proceedings are proposed to be instituted, and on his certificate that it is expedient that such proceedings should be instituted.

“My children motivated me to take part in this programme. (...) The exercises we have engaged in have brought us, parents, back to our childhood, so that we can sense and predict what children can do, what they think, how they feel; and then it is much easier to work with them.

Following the completion of the workshops, Admir thinks that if we want to educate our children in the right way, we must first educate ourselves. (...) I think the goal of the programme is to change the parents, ourselves”, Admir adds.
Within a total of 12 workshops, parents and facilitators have partnered together to seek answers to questions about parenting and child development.

Admir Međedović, samohrani otac četvoro djece, u Bijelom Polju, tokom avgusta 2018, priča o tome kako su ga djeca motivisala da se prijavi za školu roditeljstva
Takvu podršku je u bjelopoljskom Domu zdravlja, kroz program „Roditeljstvo za cjeloživotno zdravlje“, koji je podržan od strane UNICEF-a i Evropske unije, potražio i Admir Međedović, samohrani otac četvoro djece.

Vježbe koje smo radili vraćaju i nas roditelje u djetinjstvo, kako bismo mogli da osjetimo i predvidimo šta dijete može da uradi, šta misli, kako se osjeća i onda je s djecom mnogo lakše sarađivati”, priča Admir. Nakon završenih radionica, Admir misli da, ukoliko želimo na pravi način da vaspitamo svoju djecu, moramo prvo vaspitati sebe.

Meanwhile, on 10 September, Admiral Davor Domazet gave expert evidence for the Defence in the Blaskic trial. (...) The Prosecution did not know that the Defence were intending to tender the evidence of Admiral Domazet until the Defence sought leave to do so. The substance of the Admirals evidence was not put to the Prosecution witnesses, so no occasion arose in which this evidence should have been led in advance.

DESTROYING THE HERITAGE
Last week, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague handed down a judgment against Admiral Miodrag Jokić. Jokić was one of the war-time commanders of the Yugoslav National Army (JNA) stationed around Dubrovnik in 1991.
(...) Under international law, military commanders are also required to have knowledge of the acts of their subordinates, to take measures to punish crimes that they committed and to prevent any further occurrences.
Admiral Jokić voluntarily surrendered to the Tribunal on 12 November 2001. (...) Last week, the Trial Chamber sentenced Admiral Jokić to 7 years imprisonment for aiding and abetting in the crimes committed in Dubrovnik on 6 December 1991 and for failing to punish the perpetrators who were soldiers under his command.
