Drago Vukovic   The TRIAL CHAMBER , NOTING the application filed by the accused, Milan Simic, on 8 April 1998, requesting authorisation to leave the municipality of Bosanski Samac for medical reasons (hereinafter "the Application"), NOTING the decision of 26 March 1998 granting the provisional release of the accused, decision also ordering court supervision, PURSUANT to Rule 54 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence, CONSIDERING that the Defence refers to the deteriorating medical condition of the accused in support of its Application, including the appearance of a further ailment (open wounds on both heels) requiring appropriate treatment not available in the municipality of Bosanski Samac but which is in fact available at the Military Medical Academy Center in Belgrade, CONSIDERING that the medical certificate produced at our request subsequent to filing the Application specifies that a stay of 7 days in Belgrade is necessary for a complete examination of this new ailment, CONSIDERING that the strict court supervision to which the accused is subject should not result in depriving him of care indispensible to his health, CONSIDERING that the Prosecutor indicated that she did not object to the accused’s being in Belgrade for medical reasons, FOR THE FOREGOING REASONS AUTHORISES , exceptionally, the accused to leave the municipality of Bosanski Samac to undergo treatment in Belgrade at the Military Medical Academy Center for the time strictly required to treat the alleged ailment, that is, fifteen days from the date of this Decision, ORDERS the Defence to produce at the end of said period a detailed medical certificate so that the Trial Chamber may assess the medical condition of the accused, Done in French and English, the French version being authoritative.

Why doesn’t the dental insurance cover all forms of teeth ailments? Dental plans, unlike medical ones, are discounted plans, that cover preventive care and basic procedures such as treatment for gum disease, extractions, fillings, and root canals. Coverage is limited because of the low premiums paid for dental insurance. Not all ailments are covered, however, preventive, and basic care are covered.

Lusaka, Zambia from 22nd to 27th July 2012 A team of 18 local and international participants of doctor, nurse’s and scientists ran mobile clinics in the towns and villages around Lusaka. 2150 patients including women, children, the aged etc. with various ailments such as respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and neurological cases as well as HIV/AIDS, malaria and minor injuries, came to consult at the clinics. (...) Kenya from 29th July to 8th August 2012 Mobile clinics were set up close to Kitale, in Kenya, which served as a central point for other surrounding villages to converge and receive health promotion messages, take part in community based studies as well treatment of common ailments.. The towns and villages covered were, Kisumu area, Kaptanai (close to the Ugandan border) and Matisi . 4,100 patients were received by the clinic, over a seven day period.

The 10 commonest were hypoacousis caused by noise (18,419 cases), skin ailments caused by allergy provoking or irritative substances (8,767), respiratory ailments of an allergic nature (4,543), silicosis (4,381), asbestosis (3,894), paralysis of the nerves due to pressure (3,392), osteoarticular diseases of the hands and wrists caused by vibration (2,539), angioneurotic diseases caused by mechanical vibration (2,454), diseases of the periarticular sacs caused by pressure (2,305) and mesothelioma (1,446). (...) The resulting methodological proposals are designed to yield statistics during EODS Phase 1 that display the following characteristics: - providing figures on the incidence of definitive first registrations for the diagnosis and type of occupational disease under consideration in the reference year; - distinguishing between three types of occupational disease: (i) temporary ailments (causing a simple interruption in work, the first interruption occurring during the reference year), the seriousness being measured by the number of CES/SEM.41/18 page 3 working days lost; (ii) permanent ailments (first registration of permanent incapacity for work during the year), a distinction being made between serious permanent incapacity, the seriousness being measured by a level of disability higher than a minimum threshold, and minor cases; (iii) fatal diseases (death occurring within the year).
