Best Practices • Singapore Changi Airport uses recycled materials in construction projects, including
runways, roadways and drains. • Galapagos Airport’s terminal is made from 80% recycled material from the old
terminal and the structure that supports the new building was constructed from recycled petroleum exploration pipes, which were recovered from the Ecuadorian Amazon
• Auckland Airport has worked with Air New Zealand and the New Zealand Government to implement an innovative cabin waste recycling programme and complies with the country's strict quarantine laws.
• British Airways has put in place a recycling target of 50% at its Heathrow and Gatwick bases.
• Gatwick Airport is building the first waste-to-energy plant in the airport sector

Transportation to/from the Airport The nearest international airport to Toyota City is the Chubu Centrair International Airport, Nagoya. The most convenient method to access Toyota City from CENTRAIR is the airport bus, which service shuttling between the airport and Toyota City operates every day (Fare: 1,750 JPY Traveling Time: 80 minutes). The airport bus route ends at the Meitetsu Toyota Hotel (the venue of the High-level Symposium).

The report recommends further research to ascertain the nature and extent of contributions of aviation to urban areas, to find out how resultant synergies can be harnessed for environmentally sustainable and socioeconomic growth of urban areas. It is also suggested that a better understanding of the coordination of impact of air traffic growth in land use patterns of the airport vicinity and the related socioeconomic and environmental impacts along the airport-core city development corridor. Aichi Prefecture’s Regional Features Located almost in the center of Japan, Aichi Prefecture has excellent transport links by land, sea and
air, encompassing expressways, Shinkansen bullet trains, Nagoya Port, and Chubu Centrair International
Airport. In addition, the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, expected to connect Tokyo and Nagoya in 40 minutes, is scheduled to start services.
Aichi is the No.1 prefecture in Japan in terms of industrial clusters and trade surplus.

Central Japan International Airport Co., Ltd. has announced the Centrair Zero Carbon 2050 Declaration to realize virtually zero emissions of CO2 from its land facilities at the airport by 2050. The company is working on various measures, such as solar power generation and replacement with LEDs.
