The Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Bill is a far-reaching Bill which provides for a system that offers a continuum of options to support people in maximising their decision-making capability. (...) The Bill proposes three types of decision-making support options to respond to the range of support needs that people may have in relation to decision-making capacity: assisted decision-making, co-decision making and a decision making representative. (...) The OPG will supervise and handle complaints against decision-making assistants as well as against the co-decision makers, decision-making representatives and attorneys of enduring powers appointed by the court.

Filippo Grandi: “Data is at the heart good decision-making”
Oct 27, 2017
On 12 December 2016, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, visited Diffa region in Niger. (...) Data is at the heart of good decision-making. Only with accurate information can we make the right decisions on how to support displaced people in Niger and elsewhere. And eventually, we should enable people, including refugees, IDPs, and persons at risk of statelessness, to access their own data – so that they can make informed decisions about their lives and that of their children.

Asociacion Azul welcomes the decision of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to produce a General Comment on Article 19, and acknowledges the opportunity to make this submission.
1. (...) For them, the key to a self-directed life is the acknowledgment of his/her form of communication as well as of his/her need of the support persons that know him/her well.
We will make direct references:
0. para 15, (d) Personal assistance, says “The control of the personal assistance can be through supported decision-making.”
The idea that this includes ALL persons with disabilities should be emphasized: “The control of the personal assistance can be through supported decision-making…. so as to make sure that every person with disabilities, no matter his/her need of support, is getting the personal assistance he/she wishes .”
