So, the list can probably be reduced to elements which are assumed to be primarily linked to mobile networks. (...) From a QoE point of view, the situation can be more complex. Assumed there are two implementations, one of them being stable and robust in the sense of low (ideally zero) probability of false positives or negatives, but slow; the other one faster but more sensitive to such errors. (...) An end to end approach needs to be taken because the overall robustness of a particular implementation depends on several factors. Assume that there are two alternatives, one of them requiring N1 roundtrips, each having a time duration of T1, and a success rate per roundtrip of S1; the other one characterized likewise by characteristics N2, T2 and S2.

It is often advisable to prepare two or more alternative sets of subnational projections: one is based on the assumption that past trends will continue; the other assumes a particular change in migration. Sometimes, it is also helpful to prepare subnational projections that assume no migration so that the effect of alternate migration assumptions can be seen. (...) Three of these series vary in the amount and recency of the past migration data used, while the fourth assumes no migration and is useful as a basis of comparison. (...) For example, if equilibrium is assumed within25 years, the rates for the first period are 80 per cent of those in the base period, the rates in the second period are 60 per cent, etc.

For software-only implementations it is definitely not reasonable and a finite DEP ought to be assumed. It is also inappropriate for any algorithm which delivers the compressed version of the frame in two or more sections, for instance as part of a strategy to minimise overall delay, to assume zero processing time. The actual processing time that should be assumed remains difficult to quantify since it is heavily dependent on the nature of the algorithm and the assumed technology for implementation. (...) The time taken to write the encoding of a frame into the channel buffer may be assumed to be zero, but there may be implications for the size of the channel input buffer to be taken account of.
