REPORT OF THE WORKING GROUP ON THE ISSUE OF DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN IN LAW AND IN PRACTICE : ADDENDUM
In 2008, the Republic of Moldova adopted Law N. 120-XVI, which amended the Family Code’s provisions on the minimum age of marriage, raising it from 16 to 18 years for girls, as recommended by CEDAW in 2006.5 However, marriage of children below the age of 18 may be authorized by the authorities “for well-founded reasons.” (...) At the time of the Working Group’s visit, the police were not authorized to issue short-term protection orders, although discussions were ongoing on the need to introduce such measures.

REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON THE SITUATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS, MARGARET SEKAGGYA : ADDENDUM
The group is significant in that it is authorized to monitor and supervise the protection of human rights of persons in detention. (...) (...) These allegations of provocation by the police during authorized rallies were, however, denied by the police. 78.
