Ms Azoulay,
As much as your commitment, it is your leadership and
your vision that have been recognized, and which have
proven so effective, especially at the head of the French
Ministry of Culture and Communication.

All this draws, I believe, on a wellspring of personal
experience, history and background, that is built on
dialogue, that is led by openness to others and the world,
that recognizes diversity as a strength for all to share.
(...) Today, more than ever, I believe we cannot play safe…we
must think big to be true to the great ambitions of
UNESCO’s mandate.

Chairman,
Globalization and technologies bring many benefits to our societies,
but they also generate new opportunities for crime and criminals. Canada strongly believes that we must develop and maintain
institutional capacity to meet these new challenges at the multilateral level. (...) Chairman,
We continue to believe that a distinction has to be maintained
between the fight against crime and the fight against terrorism. We
do not believe that all of the measures used against terrorism, some
of which are justified only by the serious threat to national security it
represents, will be appropriate for use against crime.

Change is happening everywhere, and I believe every generation must face the challenging question of how to build peace, how to strengthen the unity of humanity against the threats of violence, of fragmentation. I believe we share the same conviction that peace does not flow only from treaties, however essential these are – peace must be lived every day, by women and men, and taken forward by communities. (...) Sustaining peace means providing new skills for dialogue and mutual understanding – it means defending humanity’s rich cultural heritage and diversity from attacks – it means giving young people, new opportunities to engage and shape the future according to their dreams. I believe, today more than ever, we need leaders to take this vision forward, to make the promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to leave no one behind real.

RECONSIDERATION OF APPROACH TO IDENTITY MANAGEMENT AND TRUST SERVICES : SUBMISSION BY THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
We reiterate, though, that we do not believe that a simple set
of revisions to the text of WP 162 will result in a viable instrument. (...) We do not believe this obligation is realistic.
Draft Article 1: Definitions
We believe the Working Group should revisit the definitions after the articles in the
rest of the draft are concluded. (...) Moreover,
we believe this proposed language could cause confusion, as it implies that there are
specific factors that an IdM service provider must manage.
