A second area of work in the first pillar concerns the full use of mechanisms available to the state to influence business to respect human rights internationally. (...) In this regard there are several areas of work that we could suggest. One concerns the responsibility for the relationships under which work is performed by business relations of the business enterprise. (...) Because of this, the general prescription to “do no harm” will not be sufficient guidance to determine an adverse impact on this human right. Article 10: Anyone who wants to run import-export trading business which requires technical management at a specific level, necessary material background and special licensing, prior to submission to the Ministry of Commerce, must apply for the authorisation from sectors concerned, i.e. medicine, wood, sports guns, guns for hunting and signal generators. (...) Article 16: Re-export is the trading business on commodities in concerned groups authorised as per provisions of these regulations and it is not necessary to apply for additional authorisation for this business. (...) Article 28: The licence issued by the Ministry of Commerce will be permanently valid until there are changes in the concerned business, as specified in Article 27 of these regulations.

Consumer Privacy Concerns In today’s E-business environment, concerns over privacy emerge when an individual is requested to provide personal data, for example, name, address, credit card number, etc. as part of an online transaction when he or she is dealing with a business partner over an open and unmanaged network such as the Internet. (...) In practice, it meant implementing changes in business practices that require a data user to notify individuals of its purposes of collecting data from them and to seek consent from the individual concerned for any different purposes of use. (...) Adopting privacy protection practices makes good business sense as such practices can effectively address their concerns.

Background Threats to human rights defenders and to civic freedoms are increasing concerns globally. A large number of human rights defenders are under threat and attack because they raise concern about adverse human rights impacts of business operations, often in the context of large development projects that affects access to land and livelihoods. (...) Concerns are being raised about the role of business in contributing to attacks against human rights defenders or in failing to take action against such attacks. (...) The Working Group issued a discussion paper to guide suggestions from interested parties: Discussion paper: identifying elements for guidance on human rights defenders and the role of business . The Working Group worked in consultation with the Special Rapporteur on human rights defenders, whose report to the 2017 UN General Assembly addressed the situation of human rights defenders raising concerns about business-related impacts.

News ILO workshop among OECD National Contact Points for Responsible Business Conduct to enhance policy coherence on international labour standards Organized from 20 June to 1 July 2022, the workshop highlighted the coherence and linkages that exist between the ILO MNE Declaration and the OECD MNE Guidelines, in particular concerning issues related to decent work and human rights, including in the context of due diligence. (...) By highlighting the relevant recommendations of the Tripartite Declaration of Principles Concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration), this joint guidance note by the ILO Multinational Enterprises and Enterprises Engagement Unit (MULTI) and the ILO Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work Branch (FUNDAMENTALS) aims to promote more comprehensive strategies and actions that businesses operating all over the world can take by adopting a holistic approach to the elimination of child labour and its root causes in their business operations.
