UN World Data Forum 2020: Over 10,000 data producers and users connect to advance solutions for trusted data in COVID-19 response (New York, 23 October) — The first virtual meeting of the United Nations World Data Forum concluded with the launch of the data community’s response to COVID-19, stressing the increased demand for relevant, timely and trusted data and statistics as a critical part of building back a more equitable, sustainable and resilient future. The appeal to the entire data community to come together to support the response to the pandemic and accelerate action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) emphasizes the need to ensure trust and privacy in data and increase investments in data to respond more effectively to COVID-19 and future disasters.

I like communicating and informing the population, being even closer to the population. (...) We speak the same language and we can communicate easily.

It occurs during trying times for the international community, with the ongoing consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic felt around the world. With the international community being focused on the response to the pandemic and cancellation of many memorials and commemorations, it is critical to take the time to remember and honour the victims of terrorism.
(...) The event provides an opportunity for victims to share their stories and to urge the international community to strengthen their rights and address their needs, even during global health emergencies.

In those States in which ethnic, religious or linguistic minorities or persons of indigenous origin exist, a child belonging to such a minority or who is indigenous shall not be denied the right, in community with other members of his or her group, to enjoy his or her own culture, to profess and practise his or her own religion, or to use his or her own language.

The Secretary-General shall thereupon communicate the proposed amendment to States Parties, with a request that they indicate whether they favour a conference of States Parties for the purpose of considering and voting upon the proposals. In the event that, within four months from the date of such communication, at least one third of the States Parties favour such a conference, the Secretary-General shall convene the conference under the auspices of the United Nations.

The ballet group provides social support in a community where poverty, hunger and teen pregnancy are constant issues.
(...) They started leafleting the community, promoting mass testing and distributing masks. Recognizing further community needs, they engaged in campaigns to collect food, hygiene products, tampons, and electronic devices to stay in touch with ballet members.
