In the course of aggressive wars premediatedly started and dragged on by Armenia since 1988 against Azerbaijan, national cultural heritage including cultural resources which are not millitary objects has been subjected to attacks besides residential, educational, industrial and agricultural sites located in Khankendi, Shusha, Khojaly, Khojavand, Kalbajar, Lachin, Gubadly, Aghdam, Zangilan, Jabrayil, Terter, Fuzuli and other occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The cultural resources have faced severe damages, theft, vandalism, as well as misappropriation of cultural heritage resources. They were illicitly transfered from the occupied territories, misappropriated, modified for the purpose of destruction or concealing the cultural, historical and scientific essence of it, moreover, the purpose of use of some has been deliberately changed, as a result of which cultural institutions, real or personal estates that worth billions of AZNs have been deliberately destroyed by putting fire, blasting or other hazardous ways.

Similar to indigenous peoples across the world, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples maintain a profound connection to their land that forms an essential part of their cultural and spiritual life and material well-being. (...) Of note is that the Declaration effectively rejects a strict requirement of continuous occupation or cultural connection from the time of European contact in order for indigenous peoples to maintain interests in lands, affirming simply that rights exist by virtue of “traditional ownership or other traditional occupation or use” (art. 26). (...) However, there is a need to incorporate into government programmes a more integrated approach to addressing indigenous disadvantage across the country, one that secures for indigenous peoples not just social and economic well-being, but in doing so also advances their self-determination and their rights to maintain their distinct cultural identities, languages and connections with their traditional lands. 18 CCPR/C/AUS/Q/5/Add.1, para. 27. 19 Ibid.

The report also states that the indigenous communities of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta view the possible posting of a mountain battalion in the area as a threat to their cultural integrity. In this connection the Government wishes to inform the Special Rapporteur that under President Uribe the community has been approached with a view to obtaining the permission of the indigenous authorities for this project, a matter that was fully discussed at a community council held in Nabusimake. 11. Progress has also been made in the area of legislation, with a view to ensuring the right to development of every group, strengthening their cultural values, recognizing their languages, providing them with education that reflects the specificities of their culture and encouraging participation that is consistent with their forms of organization. In multiple encounters with San groups and other knowledgeable sources, it was evident to the Special Rapporteur that San people continue to maintain a strong cultural attachment to their traditional lands within the parks. 40. (...) The Hai//om people were removed from the park in the 1950s, although they still maintain a cultural connection to lands within the park.12 While previously the Hai//om were permitted to continue some hunting in the park, following their eviction in the 1950s, all open access to the park as well as hunting and gathering in it was banned. (...) Traditional authorities administer and execute customary laws, and are responsible for protecting and promoting “the culture, language, tradition, and traditional values” of a community and preserving cultural sites, works of art and traditional ceremonies (sect. 3, subsect. 1).

Mongolia is a party to several international human rights treaties, including the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which stipulates the right to an adequate standard of living, including the rights to water and sanitation. (...) It is focused on hygiene from the perspective of an environment for healthy and safe living conditions and therefore does not incorporate social, cultural and economic issues such as acceptability dimensions, for instance, a gender perspective and references to menstrual hygiene management issues. (...) The normative content of the human right to water requires that the water supply for each person be sufficient and continuous for personal and domestic use, which includes water for drinking and personal hygiene and for personal and domestic uses, such as cooking, the preparation of food, laundry and cleaning (see Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights general comment No. 15, para. 12).
