The room is a pilot of the child-friendly environment concept which aims to create special areas in justice facilities that will consider children’s specific needs and facilitate child participation, ensure privacy, and prevent re-victimization. Similar spaces are also being developed for the Police, Legal Aid Service and Courts in Rustavi.    The child-friendly environment concept was created by UNICEF with the support of the European Union for the project "Improving Access to Justice and Developing a Child-friendly Justice System in Georgia". (...) The guarantees enshrined in the Juvenile Justice Code are not always implemented in practice due to the absence of child-friendly environments. In particular, justice agencies do not provide adequate spaces for interviewing children or for confidential meetings of a child with their lawyer.

AGREE to intensify our work aimed at achieving safe, efficient, environment- and health- friendly transport in order to reverse unsustainable trends and to contribute to meeting global responsibilities; 2. Its intended impact is to increase the quality of planning and concrete actions of age-friendly environments within the Region of the Americas. The primary target audiences of this publication are Member States of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and stakeholders that are involved and have prior knowledge of the practice of age-friendly environments. It also intends to reach age-friendly cities and communities in the Region of the Americas to share good practices that can be reproduced, as well as encourage such initiatives on behalf of older individuals. It also shows how a multisectoral approach and the involvement of different actors have made a huge impact in the development of activities toward an age-friendly environment and in favor of the protection of older adults.

Prior to implementation of the child-friendly environment concept, there was little difference between how and where children and adults were interviewed. (...) At the Rustavi City Court, Mamia Pkhakadze, Chairperson to the Rustavi City Court has noticed that the creation of a more child-friendly environment has made a difference in the way children are interacting. The symposium was held under The Pan-European Programme on Transport, Health and Environment and (THE PEP), run jointly by UNECE and the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for Europe. (...) This first ever PEP symposium focused on the first of the Amsterdam Goals: To contribute to sustainable economic development and stimulate job creation through investment in environment- and health-friendly transport. According to the High-level Meeting, this should be achieved by “directing investment towards the development of transport infrastructure that promotes safety, environment and health and has the highest job creation potential, including rail and light rail, clean and efficient public transport, efficient intermodal connections, safety measures in road transport and infrastructure for active and environmentally friendly transport” (like walking and cycling).

The map will be used to advocate for and promote a child- and youth-friendly environment in the cities or local communities. (...) The children propose that it would be possible to improve the environment by installing air treatment facilities in manufacturing enterprises and planting more trees. Another idea was it teach city-dwellers the need to sort rubbish and recycle. For safety and environment reasons, children dream about developing cycling infrastructure.
