The major amendment to the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act in 1990 allowed the Japanese descendents (up to the third generation) to acquire the long- term residential status without restrictions on employment in Japan. She decided that she wanted to continue her education in Japan, and her parents were eventually deported. This case generated fierce debate in the Japanese society. 56.

She escaped and went to the police, and it took 11 days for her to be recognized as a victim of trafficking, since she was involved in a false marriage and had a false work contract; eventually she was assisted and returned to her country. In one case, a young Chinese woman who was supposed to be a trainee in a farm to acquire agricultural skills was taken by the entrepreneur to work as a servant in her house and raped on a regular basis until she could escape. At the time of his visit, a new constitution was being drafted, and the Special Rapporteur welcomes indications that the constitution will eventually include a clear recognition of the right to adequate housing and an explicit commitment to the reporting obligations of the Government of Kenya under international human rights treaties. 9. The Special Rapporteur heard concerns that the content of these reports is frequently undisputed, which eventually leads to the swift closure of the case. (...) Furthermore, it was Egypt that eventually rejected the region wide cooperative framework on the Nile River that was a result of decade-long dialogue and negotiation among the basin countries. (...) Egypt demonstrated bad faith and contravened international law by seeking the following: • Prohibit future use of the Blue Nile by Ethiopia; • Acquire extra special treatment in a category of threshold it created (prolonged periods of dry years) to make sure Ethiopia’s obligations coincides with its self-claimed water entitlement under 1959 Treaty; • Rules that absolve Egypt from a responsibility in drought management; • Right to manage Ethiopia’s dam; • Guidelines and Rules that prevent optimal operation of the GERD reservoir; • Refuse to provide data on its reservoir level and release; • Rules that makes the filling and refilling of the GERD over extended and burdensome ON AVAILABLE REMEDIES 19.

Both countries are working on cruise missiles and India is developing a submarine-launched ballistic missile capability, which could eventually be nuclear- armed. North Korea attempted a nuclear test in October 2006 and is assessed to have enough fissile material for a small number of nuclear weapons. (...) We know that international terrorists are trying to acquire radiological weapons. In future, there are risks that they may try to aquire nuclear weapons. (...) Despite the initial substantive budgetary investment40 and the fact that all major real estate developers joined the programme, it soon became clear that developers had taken advantage of all the facilities from the State for Rusunami apartments (subsidy and location) to build middle-class condominiums instead of low-cost apartments. The opportunity to acquire scarce land within the city limits was probably the main driving force behind the developers’ interest. (...) The objectives of this second official visit were to study and acquire a better understanding of the situation of internal displacement in the Russian Federation, with particular focus on the situation in the North Caucasus, and to engage in a constructive and solutions-oriented dialogue with the Government, international agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other relevant actors aimed at ensuring effective responses to internal displacement.
