This year, after the sharp devaluation of the unofficial exchange rate, the Central Bank of Lebanon (BDL) began subsidizing fuel, wheat, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies by offering importers US$ at the rate of US$/LBP 1,515, as well as subsidizing a basket of basic consumer goods at a rate of US$/LBP 3,900. (...) Had those price subsidies not been in place, importers would by now be obtaining dollars at the unofficial exchange rate - currently over US$ / LBP 8,000 - meaning that product prices would have been drastically higher.

Facilitating South-South exchanges and knowledge generation through best practices and lessons learned, as well as guidance material and software applications to assist with monitoring and with national forest and greenhouse gas inventories. A South-South exchange on tenure issues, shared by experts from Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe provided lessons and best practices to address REDD+ and tenure issues. Meanwhile, exchanges between Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal and Viet Nam led to strengthened capacity for development of the FREL/REL and facilitated dialogue and information-sharing.
