PROPOSAL FOR A NEW GLOBAL TECHNICAL REGULATION ON THE MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE FOR TWO- OR THREE-WHEELED MOTOR VEHICLES WITH REGARD TO ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS
"Communication protocol" means a system of digital message formats and
rules for exchanging those messages in or between computing systems or
units;
3.5. (...) The distance travelled by the vehicle while the MI is activated shall be
available at any moment through the serial port on the standardised
diagnostic connector. By means of derogation for vehicles equipped with a
mechanically operating odometer that does not allow input to the electronic
control unit, "distance travelled" may be replaced with "engine operation
time" and shall be made available at any moment through the serial port on
the standardised diagnostic connector. (...) Except in the case of grade A OBD, if available, the following signals in
accordance with the specifications in paragraph 3.10. in addition to the
required freeze-frame information shall be made available on demand
through the serial port on the standardised diagnostic connector, if the

REVISED PROPOSAL FOR DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO REGULATION NO. 110, SPECIFIC COMPONENTS FOR CNG / SUBMITTED BY THE EXPERT FROM THE EUROPEAN NATURAL GAS VEHICLE ASSOCIATION (ENGVA)
Recently,
approved ISO 14469-1 standard for 200 bar (20 MPa) connector for light-duty vehicles gives the
opportunity to adopt a unique, worldwide recognized and approved fuelling connector.
ISO is now also preparing a similar standard for heavy-duty CNG vehicles: ISO
DIS 14469-2 "Road vehicles Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refuelling connector – part 2: 20 MPa
(200 bar) connector size 2". Finally, ISO is also preparing a similar standard for CNG vehicles for
higher service pressure: ISO DIS 14469-3 "Road vehicles Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

TECHNICAL REPORT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF DRAFT GLOBAL TECHNICAL REGULATION ON THE MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE FOR TWO- OR THREE-WHEELED MOTOR VEHICLES WITH REGARD TO ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS
The
protocol is also used in case of re-programming the emission
controller, if needed;
(v) OBD connector
In the initial proposal for the gtr, the OBD connector that was
standardised for cars or any alternative connector was included in the
proposal as interface for two- and three-wheeled vehicles. To reduce
the number of connector configurations around the globe, the
alternative connector was replaced, taking into account the
development an ISO standard for OBD connector for two- and three-
wheeled vehicles.1
Following some questions raised within the IWG on the vibration and
temperature performance of the draft ISO standard,1 the ISO working
group that developed the standard (ISO TC22/SC38/WG4) provided
an explanation to EPPR IWG.
9. (...) Upon arrival at the service station of the highly polluting vehicle
owing to the active malfunction(s), the repairer can connect a generic scan
tool directly to the OBD connector and swiftly obtain the vehicle’s on-board
diagnostic information as input for the analysis and the actual repair.

REGULATION NO. 110, SPECIFIC COMPONENTS FOR CNG : PROPOSAL FOR DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO THE REGULATION / SUBMITTED BY THE EXPERT FROM THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR STANDARDIZATION
JUSTIFICATION
Today a number of different types of filling units (fuelling connectors) are exported all around
the world. Customers who travel with their natural gas vehicles in different countries as well as
CNG component suppliers require the harmonization of the fuelling connectors. (...) Such a connector offers a larger cross section than the
connector in accordance with ISO 14469-1 and, therefore, permits refueling of the vehicles
within significantly shorter time periods.
This amendment proposes to adopt the ISO 14469-2 as the standard fuelling connector for
heavy-duty CNG vehicles, providing an opportunity to adopt a worldwide recognized and
approved fuelling connector for heavy duty vehicles
