SUMMARY RECORD OF THE 854TH MEETING, HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 18 MAY 1966 :INTERNATIONAL LAW COMMISSION, 18TH SESSION, EXTRACT FROM THE YEARBOOK OF THE INTERNATIONAL LAW COMMISSION, 1966, VOL 1 (2)
Como han dicho varios gobiernos, esta norma favorece indebidamente al tercer Estado a expendas de las partes contratantes. Confía en que la Comisión subsanará ese defecto al examinar el artículo 61. 37.

NOTE VERBALE DATED 2006/05/12 FROM THE PERMANENT MISSION OF TURKEY TO THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA ADDRESSED TO THE OFFICE OF THE HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS
Against this background of mounting external, as well as internal pressure, the Greek Cypriot side has eventually demolished the wall of separation on its side of the street on 9 March 2007, but it has dampened the expectation of a positive contribution since it insists on putting forward preconditions for the opening of the crossing point. We are of the expectation that the Greek Cypriot side will withdraw its preconditions and henceforth engage in cooperation for putting the Lokmacı crossing to the service of both peoples, as is the case with other crossing points. (...) The international community, and the UN in particular, should impress upon the Greek Cypriot side that they cannot literally fiddle around with the 8 July process, creating the impression of reviving it or putting it dead in its tracks according to their political purposes, but that they should approach the matter with due urgency and with the clarity and seriousness it deserves.

PROMOTION AND PROTECTION OF ALL HUMAN RIGHTS, CIVIL, POLITICAL, ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO DEVELOPMENT : INFORMATION / PRESENTED BY THE EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION OF GREAT BRITAIN ; NOTE BY THE SECRETARIAT
In the opinion of the Commission, the newly elected UK government needs to urgently put in place a review process to assess the truth or otherwise of all these allegations. Any review process must satisfy both the Commission and the public: • That those carrying out the review will be given complete access to all of the relevant materials, • That the review team are completely independent of government and appointed in a transparent and independent manner; • That, whilst ensuring that any real and substantial risks to national security are protected, the review will be as open and transparent as possible, putting as much material in the public domain as possible and holding as many evidence sessions in public as possible; and • Will publish its findings as soon as possible with the fewest redactions consistent with the protection of national security.

PROMOTION AND PROTECTION OF ALL HUMAN RIGHTS, CIVIL, POLITICAL, ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO DEVELOPMENT : INFORMATION PRESENTED BY THE EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION OF GREAT BRITAIN : NOTE / BY THE SECRETARIAT
We called for the UK government urgently to put in place a review process to assess the truth or otherwise of the many allegations of complicity in torture that had been made against it both in that report and in many other sources. We said that: “Any review process must satisfy both the Commission and the public: • that those carrying out the review will be given complete access to all of the relevant materials, • that the review team are completely independent of government and appointed in a transparent and independent manner; • that, whilst ensuring that any real and substantial risks to national security are protected, the review will be as open and transparent as possible, putting as much material in the public domain as possible and holding as many evidence sessions in public as possible; and • will publish its findings as soon as possible with the fewest redactions consistent with the protection of national security.”

NOTE VERBALE DATED 2008/06/10 FROM THE PERMANENT MISSION OF SRI LANKA TO THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA ADDRESSED TO THE SECRETARIAT OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL
We appreciate the assistance of those officials in the UN system who are willing to help with the A/HRC/8/G/9 página 5 problems we have, but we will not be stampeded by forces providing excuses for terror into measures that will prevent us from putting a stop to terror, and its ghastly consequences for all our citizens and our Tamil brethren in particular. -----
