More than 50 women engineers from University of Zaragoza, most of the from the CSIC and private sector, visited primary schools to lead hands-on workshops with young students, both boys and girls, to show them how engineers work.

Previous Girls in ICT Days Advertise your event Contact us Page Content 20 ​​Alfa (managed by Orascom Telecom)​​ Beirut, Lebanon, 2014, May 08​ ​ In line with the "Girls in ICT Day" initiative launched and backed by International Telecommunication Union, Lebanese mobile operator Alfa, managed by Orascom Telecom, celebrated this Day for the 2nd year in a row, inviting 25 female students from secondary classes to its premises in mid-May. This celebration coincides with the objectives of the "Girls in ICT Day", and came as part of Alfa's commitment to contributing to the career guidance of the female students and to enhancing the role of women in the telecommunications sector, which contributes around 9% to the local GDP.

Our goal is also to eliminate the negative effects of being in a minority that female programmer have to deal with. As an organization working on Girls & ICT sector, we had committed to organize the whole week of Girls in ICT as a celebration. We have altogether 10 female students in G-Hackademy committed to different programming languages including Java, PHP, .Net and designing. (...) Africa NoW4WTDC  has as its objective to: Establish a community where female delegates can support each other, expand their network, advocate, and share experience and knowledge; Promote the active participation of women in the activities of the ITU-D sector and ITU in general; Give visibility to women and empower them for larger responsibilities in their respective delegations, at WTDC-21 and in future similar platforms; and Encourage experienced delegates to mentor fellow female professionals in order to create a stronger base for women in the digital space.​​​ ​ (...) The mentorship programme is open to women participating in all events in preparation for WTDC in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Any female delegate willing to be a mentor or mentee can join the mentorship programme.
