In Macao’s gaming industry, the junket operators
underwrite the “dead chips”c for the casinos in return for rebates from reselling these
chips to the gamblers, in addition to a share in the gambling receipts. The junket
operators promote the service to gamblers and earn discounts on the chips’ face value.
(...) Expenditure of non-residents in the domestic market (i.e. expenses on gaming,
accommodation and others) is estimated by using the administrative record on
annual gross gambling receipts, results of the Visitor Expenditure Survey and other
tourism statistics such as the number of visitor arrivals and the hotel room rates;

But figures are hard to come by, as most of these revenues go to offshore companies and will continue to do so as long as U.S. states rule on-line gambling as being illegal.
One exception is Nevada, where tolerance of gambling extended into cyberspace last January when on-line sports book betting became legal. (...) Developed at a cost of $8 million, Sportxction allows gamblers to bet in real time on a live sporting event from their home PCs or from a dedicated kiosk at a casino. (...) ''We're in the brokering business, not the gambling business,'' Mr. Mindes says.
While Nevada intends to corral on-line gambling within its borders, an estimated 47 jurisdictions around the globe currently license or regulate on-line gambling.

Tbilisi, Georgia, 25 February 2022 – More than one in ten adolescents say they practice gambling with different frequencies, more than a quarter of them are active gamblers and gamble for money a few days a week or more often. (...) Other motivators for starting to gamble are boredom and the perception that gambling is popular.
(...) The study found that the level of awareness of adolescents about the risks associated with gambling and gambling addiction is low. The majority of adolescents who gamble do not talk to their parents about gambling and its risks.
