For him golf was more than a sport, it was a way to concentrate and, as he once said, to “refocus my energy and mind on the positive side of life”.

The Olympic Committee established a Sport and Environment Commission to advise its Executive Board on the integration of environment issues in the preparations and staging of Olympic Games. Today, the environment has become one of the key criteria in the selection of venues for the Olympic Games. 10. (...) The programme will also ensure collaboration with organizers of such multisport events as the Asian Games, the All Africa Games, the Commonwealth Games and the Jeux de la Francophonie to promote environmental awareness. 3. (...) UNEP will continue to strengthen its work with Organizing Committees of the Olympic Games, including in Athens (2004), Turin, Italy, (2006) and Beijing (2008) to assist them in their preparations for the Games.

The Several Sources ongoing GolfDreams™ Program promoted positive, individual sport experiences during the reporting period under the guidance of volunteer benefactors who acted as adult mentors and helped teach family values to the children of the inner city through the game of golf. Young people were given an opportunity each summer to participate in golf clinics, and a golf tournament. (...) Each child received a set of three golf clubs, a glove and a hat as well as a Certificate of Achievement. (...) Other organizations in the United States of America, including in New York, California, Michigan, Kansas, Georgia and Ohio have also used The Choice Game™ Curriculum in after-school and hospital educational programs.
