Although the consequences affect the entire population, they do affect stronger those that are the most in need.

The housing deficit reaches 4.100.000 households, where 2.700.000 corresponds to qualitative deficit and 1.300.000 to quantitative deficit (2010).

For the last two years UN-Habitat has been involved with the Ministry of Interior, Public Works and Housing. With this nationwide housing project thousands of houses will be constructed. (...) With other NGOs there exists a functional obliga- tion with regards to health, credit provision to women, responsible parenthood and sexuality, housing and activi- ties in the interior of Suriname. Mandato revisado del Comité de Transportes Interiores de la Comisión Económica para Europa

a) El Comité de Transportes Interiores es un centro de las Naciones Unidas que ofrece una plataforma completa para el estudio de todos los aspectos del desarrollo del transporte interior y la cooperación, con especial hincapié en la reglamentación mundial mediante los convenios de las Naciones Unidas en materia de transporte y otros medios;
b) Los Estados miembros de la Comisión Económica para Europa participan en los períodos de sesiones del Comité como miembros de pleno derecho, con derecho de voto. Los Estados no miembros pueden participar como miembros de pleno derecho en las series de sesiones del Comité que se ocupan de los instrumentos jurídicos en los que son partes contratantes y seguir desempeñando funciones consultivas en otras esferas;
c) El Comité ofrece a sus miembros y partes contratantes un foro para i) la cooperación y la consulta basadas en el intercambio de información y experiencias, ii) el análisis de las tendencias del transporte y de las tendencias de las políticas económicas y de transporte, y iii) una acción coordinada destinada a lograr un sistema de transporte eficiente, coherente, equilibrado y flexible, basado en los principios de la economía de mercado, que persiga los objetivos de la seguridad, la protección del medio ambiente y la eficiencia energética en el transporte y que tenga en cuenta la evolución del transporte y la política de los miembros del Comité;
d) El Comité promueve la armonización y mejora de las reglamentaciones, normas y recomendaciones técnicas y operacionales entre sus miembros y partes contratantes en los diversos ámbitos del transporte interior, en particular la seguridad vial, los vehículos de carretera, el transporte de mercancías peligrosas, la facilitación del cruce de fronteras, la infraestructura y el transporte combinado;
e) Promueve la facilitación del transporte internacional por carretera, ferrocarril y vías de navegación interior, en particular mediante la simplificación y armonización de los procedimientos administrativos para el cruce de fronteras y la documentación física y electrónica;
f) Promueve el desarrollo coordinado de infraestructura para el transporte por carretera, ferrocarril y vías de navegación interiores y para el transporte combinado entre sus miembros y partes contratantes, a fin de lograr una conectividad coherente en el transporte internacional;
g) El Comité persigue el objetivo del desarrollo del transporte sostenible mediante la promoción tanto de la reducción del impacto negativo del transporte en el medio ambiente como de la utilización de modos de transporte respetuosos con el medio ambiente, lo que incluye el desarrollo del transporte combinado;
h) Con el fin de alcanzar los objetivos mencionados y garantizar las funciones mencionadas, el Comité de Transportes Interiores prepara, administra y, cuando procede, revisa los acuerdos, convenios y otros instrumentos internacionales jurídicamente vinculantes en los diversos ámbitos del transporte interior;
i) Actúa como centro de apoyo a las nuevas tecnologías e innovaciones en el transporte interior proporcionando una plataforma para la digitalización, la conducción automatizada y los sistemas inteligentes de transporte;
j) Formula metodologías y definiciones adecuadas para la recopilación, compilación y armonización de las estadísticas de transporte con fines de comparabilidad y coherencia. También evalúa la necesidad de recopilar y coordinar estadísticas a nivel internacional y examina la forma de mejorar su recopilación, presentación y calidad;
k) Previa solicitud, el Comité asesora y presta asistencia a sus países miembros, en particular a los que afrontan importantes cambios económicos, mediante talleres, actividades de capacitación y otros medios adecuados sobre cuestiones de transporte de interés específico, en particular para desarrollar sistemas e infraestructura de transporte sostenible que sean compatibles con los de sus países vecinos;
l) El Comité estudia los problemas referentes a la interrelación entre el transporte interior y el transporte marítimo y aéreo que se presentan entre sus miembros y partes contratantes;
m) De conformidad con su estrategia, en el desempeño de su mandato el Comité coopera estrechamente con los órganos subsidiarios pertinentes de las comisiones regionales de las Naciones Unidas y las organizaciones regionales e internacionales, en especial las organizaciones y organismos de la región de la Comisión;
n) La Mesa del Comité estará integrada por Estados miembros de la Comisión.

Following the presentation of the guidelines, journalists, prosecutors and representatives from the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Information engaged in a discussion on how to strengthen collaboration to address the issue of impunity for crimes against journalists and the establishment of safety mechanisms for reporters, to ensure that freedom of expression and access to information are protected in Cambodia. Alam added that “UNESCO is ready to provide support and continue working with journalists and Ministries of Justice, Interior and Information, in building an environment where journalists feel safe to do their job”.
