One such step was the launch of the Tanzanian Women Fish Workers Association (TAWFA) in April 2019. Immediately at the launch, the network was accepted as a member of the African Women Fish Processors and Traders Network ( AWFISHNET ), and soon after the launch, the members of TAWFA did a thorough review of the Tanzanian fisheries law and submitted their views to the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development. Only six months after the launch, TAWFA had over 200 member groups, reaching up to 6000 women.
