REPORT OF THE SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE OF THE SECRETARY-GENERAL ON THE ISSUE OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND TRANSNATIONAL CORPORATIONS AND OTHER BUSINESS ENTERPRISES, JOHN RUGGIE : ADDENDUM
One of the points of learning was just how important this element is in the context of operational-level grievance mechanisms. (...) Their aim is not to rate the work done by the participating companies nor the resulting grievance mechanisms, but to set out the mutual learning gained from the process; that is, learning for the participating companies, which will also be relevant for many other companies seeking to implement the principles in their own operations, and learning for the Special Representative’s mandate. (...) Given the inter-relatedness of the principles themselves, some learning points are inevitably relevant to more than one principle.
