This is made possible by intelligent human-machine collaboration.
“Developments such as customisable virtual assistants, or intelligent bots, represent one of the most concrete examples of human-machine collaboration and allow us to glimpse into the future of work.”
(...) What all these use-cases have in common is that machines (AI-powered bots) are working with humans so they can be more productive. (...) Business leaders that have been most successful in adopting AI in the workplace tend to start with quick-win solutions such as Q&A chatbots or help-desk bots to drive human-machine collaboration.

The access to PANACEA is made possible by the Human-Machine Interface (HMI), which provides an easy and intuitive Data Visualization Interface (DVI) enabling the visualization of relevant information of each patient and provides alert message management to notify both caregivers and patients when an infection occurs. (...) PANACEA not only facilitates interactions with humans, but it also enables advanced automated drug delivery systems that rely on supervised machine learning. The learning block is fed with both data collected by the physical system and supervised input data generated by caregivers. (...) Despite the prior work in the field on the channel characterization, estimation, and capacity calculations of these aforementioned techniques, a unifying information-theoretic framework that captures the peculiarities of an MC channel over classical communication systems for all the various MC techniques, is currently missing. We aim at filling the aforementioned research gap by providing a mathematical framework rooted in chemical kinetics and statistical mechanics to define the main functional blocks of MC, to abstract any MC system and determine or estimate the information capacity of their communication channels.

A lifecycle study found that in contrast to a high production scenario, printing just one part a week and leaving the machine on the rest of the time, had roughly ten times the impact per part compared to using the same machine at maximum utilization. (...) Energy impacts depend on the machine design. The following factors can have an influence on 3D printing energy impacts in an industrial environment:
· Build volume:
This will determine the number of parts that can be printed simultaneously on a specific printer. (...) Recent studies have found that 3D printed metal parts can be up to 50% lighter than machined parts and result in carbon savings in the aeronautical parts-use stage equaling ‘three to four orders of magnitude more’ than the amount of CO2 emitted to make them.
