Unarguably, the tension between Liberian musicians and IP
authorities creates a dilemma. This article makes efforts to
discuss the dilemma by; first, reviewing the copyright regime
and musicians’ understanding of it; and second, considering

So working with the UNESCO Focal Point in Hannover we arranged for two Liverpool
musicians to work with two Hannover musicians. The two Liverpool musicians travelled to
Hannover first and worked on developing some new music with their Hannover
counterparts. Dialogue and work continued between the two sets of musicians after this
before the Hannover musicians came to Liverpool for some final work.
(...) Where possible we would look to develop collaborative approaches such as we
did at LIMF in 2019 with musicians having the opportunity to work with musicians
from other cities.

“I remember being happy and proud to see my dad working with such a wonderful organisation, but I wasn’t too surprised as I already knew that he had written music that spoke about some of the issues that UNICEF deals with,” she said.
Selmor, a versatile contemporary musician and actress, is one of the late Oliver Mtukudzi’s most prominent children and an outstanding singer on Zimbabwe’s music scene.
(...) Selmor has also been on the ground meeting young people to understand how they deal with issues such as child marriages and the experience is driving her to do more.
(...) “I was inspired to hear the young people express their aspirations and dreams for their future and how they felt girls should be given the same chances in life as boys, and be protected against child marriage; it was inspiring for me to hear their messages, and it reminded me that while we try to make changes in our society for the better for girls, we need to consult girls and boys and listen to what they have to say to us, and involve them in the work we do and the campaigns we develop.
“I believe as musicians and public figures we are blessed with a voice that reaches further than some organisations can.

Within Hannover, citizens and musicians alike have become more aware of the potential it has as a City of Music. (...) It once again included a UCOM collaboration, following joint concerts with musicians from Glasgow and Katowice in the previous years, with invitations back to those cities and even a recording of jointly written music (this year involving musicians from Mannheim who performed with musicians from Hannover). (...) Additionally, musicians from the UCOM Network are regularly invited to Hannover to perform and meet with musicians and promoters here.

Radio Miraya is the UNMISS radio station for South Sudan
Promoting peace, fighting fake news
Coverage of the peace deal remains an important part of our output . We carry live coverage of important events taking place in the parliament, the presidential palace or the Council of Ministers, and we take the discussion shows to different regions, to raise localized themes.
Thanks to the station, many South Sudanese have been able to understand the conflict, the implementation of the peace deal, the humanitarian situation, and what's going on with human rights and the protection of civilians.
