There were four interrogators: two Khmer and two Vietnamese. At first they were nice. They gave me a cigarette ...I kept saying what had really happened, but they didn't believe me and started beating me. (...) At first they questioned me nicely... But once it became clear that my answers to their questions were the same as before, they took a plastic bag and covered my head with it down to my neck. (...) At first they asked us nicely but when our answers didn't satisfy them they went right into hitting us.

REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON TORTURE AND OTHER CRUEL, INHUMAN OR DEGRADING TREATMENT OR PUNISHMENT, MANFRED NOWAK :ADDENDUM
The Special Rapporteur was invited by the Government of Denmark to undertake a visit to the country. He conducted his mission to Denmark, including the self-governing province of Greenland, from 2 to 9 May 2008.1 Due to time constraints he did not pay a visit to the other self-governing province of the Faroe Islands. The purpose of the visit was to assess the situation of torture and ill-treatment, including conditions of detention; and intensify cooperation with the Government in the fight against torture. 2. (...) The Special Rapporteur wishes to emphasize with satisfaction that he did not receive any allegations of torture prior to or during his visit to Denmark. Also, he received only very few complaints of ill-treatment of detainees during the visit (see paras. 7, 26 and 33 of the appendix). 28.

REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR, ANDREAS MAVROMMATIS, ON THE SITUATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN IRAQ
The visit took place from 11 to 15 February 2002. This visit was the first visit to Iraq by the current Special Rapporteur and the second visit to take place since the Commission on Human Rights established the mandate in 1991. (...) The very compressed schedule only permitted a brief visit to the Abu Ghraib prison. The Special Rapporteur even had to cancel another scheduled visit to a prison for minors and adolescents in order to have sufficient time to visit Abu Ghraib. (...) In general it should be pointed out that, while the Special Rapporteur appreciated the opportunity to visit the prisons, time restrictions made it impossible for him to conduct an in-depth visit.
