The Government of Peru wishes to note that while it appreciates the interest shown by the Working Group in considering the difficult employment conditions of persons providing those services, as well as some of the problems that may occasionally have arisen in respect of other citizens, as previously mentioned it considers that these situations are already adequately monitored by the relevant authorities.

As a result many end up getting pregnant outside marriage and are often ostracized when they return to the north as single mothers. Some girls occasionally prostitute themselves to add to their earnings, which increases the prejudices they encounter once they return home. 60. (...) It is determined that all individuals held in custody were provided with access to proper medical assistance and they occasionally got food and nonfood parcels as well as remittances, which were used for buying food and other goods on the detainees’ demands.
