LETTER DATED 85/02/05 FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE ON THE EXERCISE OF THE INALIENABLE RIGHTS OF THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE ADDRESSED TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL
Critique o_f the Court' s Findings; Many legal scholars have argued for the applicability of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 to the occupation by Israel of the West Bank. The official position followed by most countries of the world is that the Geneva Convention indeed applies to Israel's occupation of the West Bank. (...) The court has found that provision must be made for the fact that the occupation is a Long term one. Even if one is to take into consideration the length of a military occupation, the two overriding considerations mentioned above must continue to be the determining yardstick by which the legality of an act is determined. However the court has not only imposed on its own account chis added consideration of the length of the occupation; it has also held that the longevity of the occupation will necessitate long, term investments.

HUMAN RIGHTS SITUATION IN PALESTINE AND OTHER OCCUPIED ARAB TERRITORIES :WRITTEN SUBMISSION BY THE STATE OF PALESTINE: INDEPENDENT COMMISSION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS : NOTE / BY THE SECRETARIAT
That deal-based annexation will practically end border contiguity with Jordan and the world, except through the occupation state. Eventually, the occupation will tighten its air and land control over all of the Palestinian territory. (...) The aforementioned steps have the objective of re-stressing the illegality of the protracted occupation, beside exercising the needed pressures on the occupation state to ensure its adherence and backing down on its expansionist plans. 14. (...) The international community and UN organizations have to take up their ethical and legal responsibilities in facing the annexation plan, ending the Israeli occupation, in addition to taking serious tangible measures to ensure accountability for the Israeli occupation, based on the international law and UN resolutions.

VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND :REPORT OF THE INDEPENDENT EXPERT ON THE ENJOYMENT OF ALL HUMAN RIGHTS BY OLDER PERSONS
New Zealand is undergoing unprecedented, significant age-structural changes. This necessitates a major shift in mindset, requiring increased awareness and acknowledgment of, and commitment to protecting, the rights of all older persons, and measures to address their concerns and prioritize their cause. 5.
