ENHANCING ENERGY SECURITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE
CORONAVIRUS DISEASE PANDEMIC FOR A GREENER, MORE RESILIENT
AND INCLUSIVE ENERGY FUTURE IN THE REGION
The pandemic has highlighted that resilience is critical, and energy systems must be able to offer flexibility and effective responses to demand shifts as well as other shocks that can disrupt supply chains, affect essential workers or close borders. (...) For example, investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy offer greater returns than fossil fuels in the form of job creation while also targeting key areas for carbon emissions reduction, helping to advance climate objectives. (...) Energy efficient new buildings offer the highest job creation coefficients: approximately 15 jobs created per million dollars of capital investment.
REPORT BY THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF MIGRANTS, FRANCOIS CREPEAU : ADDENDUM
The crews on the merchant vessels provide migrants with whatever
emergency support they are able to offer until the migrants are disembarked at an Italian
port. (...) First accommodation centres accommodate large numbers of irregular migrants and
generally offer basic assistance, including food, accommodation, clothing, some
information, legal services, first aid and emergency treatment. (...) They offer several services aimed at integrating
asylum seekers and refugees into Italian society.
REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON THE PROMOTION OF TRUTH, JUSTICE, REPARATION AND GUARANTEES OF NON-RECURRENCE, PABLO DE GREIFF
As it stands at present, the site does not offer any form of information or sign that
explains the predominance of Francoist and fascist symbolism and the exaltation of the
“winning” side in the Civil War. (...) While some Guardia Civil
training modules refer to institutions of the Franco era, they appear to offer outdated
interpretations, which are not in line with the current national educational programme.
41. (...) The Special Rapporteur welcomes the efforts accomplished on the basis of Act No.
52/2007, which led to the establishment of the Map of Graves, available on the Internet,
with records of 2,382 graves across the country, which are believed to contain more than
45,000 remains of persons and in some cases offer data concerning the victims.10
62. The Special Rapporteur received many testimonies and complaints from families,
sometimes from persons of a very advanced age, who expressed with very deep feeling the
wish to be able to offer their loved ones a decent burial place.

(...) Examples of how family violence against women is being dealt with in Iraq
The new Iraq intends to build a special home for women subjected to all kinds of
violence by their families, in order to protect them and offer them a safe haven. The
home is designed to provide care and support to women and to offer them legal advice
that will enable them to gain a better understanding of their rights and obligations.
(...) The United Nations
Development Programme for Women (UNIFEM) did offer to support the strategy. Dr.
Haifi Abu Ghazala, Regional Director for UNIFEM, visited the country in 2002 and
2003 in an attempt to create a plan for the development of an extensive database on
Iraqi women’s work, using all the data and statistical information available in the
country about Iraqi women in order to help improve their situation.
