The Gentle Assisted Pushing Study
Objectives and Background
Fundal pressure involves the birth assistant using her hands to push on the upper part of the uterus in the direction of the birth canal to help to increase intra-uterine pressure with contractions to expel the baby. (...) GAP is an innovative method of applying gentle but steady pressure to the uterine fundus in the direction of the pelvis during contractions, for a maximum of 30 seconds per contraction, with the woman in an upright posture.
(...) The objective of this trial is to evaluate the use of a gentle method of applying fundal pressure in an upright posture, or upright posture alone, on reducing the mean time of delivery and the associated maternal and neonatal complications in women not having delivered following 15-30 minutes in the second stage of labour, at all levels of care.

“He completely lifts me up out of my mundane day and grumpiness. He always sees the positive side of things. Not to mention I now probably eat three times my body weight each day of hummus.”
“His gentleness is a hard-earned gentleness."
Simon and Shoshana both speak of how open-minded and positive Faraj is despite his experiences.
“Not too many people walk around Europe as a refugee and, I mean, he has every reason to feel the world has treated him badly, but is still so positive, open, gentle and optimistic,” said Simon. “His gentleness is a hard-earned gentleness.”

Inasmuc h as we
should not wait for outer space to first become the next theatre of conflict before
we consider legally binding measures to address the consequences, we should
also not wait for a nuclear weapon detonation before action is taken.
(...) In my view, your statement is very
timely and thoughtful, and I hope it will give a gentle nudge to the Conference to
move forward in the right direction.

The graceful movements of a well-trained Taekkyeon performer are gentle and circular rather than straight and rigid, but can explode with enormous flexibility and strength. The feet play as important a role as the hands. In spite of its gentle impression, Taekkyeon is an effective martial art highlighting a broad variety of offensive and defensive skills employing all available fighting methods.

Gulf countries share around 15 per cent of the global market for air conditioning, and present a special challenge for the phase out of ozone depleting substances. This is because in order to phase out hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), which damage the ozone, an alternative must be found, and currently the main alternatives are potent greenhouse gases. The challenge of the PRAHA project is to find alternatives that are not only efficient, but also gentle on the climate.
In high ambient temperatures, air conditioners do not last or perform as well as they do in cooler countries. (...) The project intended to investigate alternative refrigerants which are gentle on the climate.
