Container was opened after 4 hours with no flare up Ongoing refinement 10 • UPS tests demonstrate that FRCs can mitigate gas buildup and contain a lithium battery fire. • Configuration must allow for adequate airflow. • We continue to refine FRCs to address real-world contingencies. • Work with FAA and industry fire-safety experts • FRCs already enhance safety and we continue to enhance FRC Strategy Recommendations 11 • Given the success of Tests 2 and 4: UPS is retrofitting existing FRCs to remove seal from lower door clamp. • UPS is pursuing program to convert existing polycarbonate containers to FRCs.

However in most buildings changing the airflow in recirculated air systems does not change the risk as droplets fall to a surface within 1 or 2 meters – they are not able to travel through ventilation systems in place in most large buildings, and will not spread in the ventilation systems in the HQ given the filtering and airflow capabilities in place.

The engine may be equipped with a switch capable of preventing or permitting the regeneration process provided this operation has no effect on the original engine calibration. (...) Both principles may be used for both the WHTC and the WHSC test cycle: (a) the gaseous components are measured in the raw exhaust gas on a real time basis, and the particulates are determined using a partial flow dilution system; (b) the gaseous components and the particulates are determined using a full flow dilution system (CVS system); (c) any combination of the two principles (e.g. raw gaseous measurement and full flow particulate measurement) is permitted. The engine shall be subjected to the test cycles specified below. 7.2. (...) Deviations from the guidance are permitted where appropriate, but the specific requirements of the relevant paragraphs are mandatory.
