REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON ADEQUATE HOUSING AS A COMPONENT OF THE RIGHT TO AN ADEQUATE STANDARD OF LIVING, AND ON THE RIGHT TO NON-DISCRIMINATION IN THIS CONTEXT, RAQUEL ROLNIK : ADDENDUM
The holders of occupancy rights of socially owned apartments were allowed to purchase their apartments and the remaining occupancy rights were transformed into lease agreements. (...) Amongst other categories, the purchase of apartments was not allowed to those participating in hostilities against the Republic of Croatia. (...) Roma families in Croatia live mainly in urban areas, often in informal settlements without ownership titles or permits for building their houses.31 Many Roma settlements are not recognized by the municipal authorities, as houses built on socially owned land are considered to be illegal.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY, SECOND COMMITTEE, ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL QUESTIONS, SUMMARY RECORDS OF MEETINGS, 15TH MEETING, 14 NOVEMBER 1946
Recalling the considerable deficit of bread grains in 194 7 estimated by the International Emergency Food Council, he suggested that some international agency must assist countries lacking the necessary foreign exchange to finance their purchases. Mr. La Guardia emphasized the various fac- tors which the United Nations must take · into account in meeting the deficit of cereals: the world had not yet recovered from the devasta- tion caused by the war; the normal level of production had not yet been restored; means of transport were still far from sufficient, even in the United States of America whose internal transportation system was considered to rank among the best in the world. (...) Finally, he replied to the second question raised by the United Kingdom delegation as to what measures should be taken, once food needs had been met, to permit countries in receipt of assistance to purchase other products. (...) Furthermore, the bilateral agreements might be of assistance to devastated areas and permit different countries to reestablish their traditional markets.

VISIT TO ITALY :REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON THE RIGHT TO FOOD
As a remedy, a bill was approved by the Chamber of Deputies to ban double-race auctions for the purchase of agricultural goods, 5 European Union, Beneficiaries of CAP Funds database. (...) This is particularly severe for migrant workers, especially if undocumented and without a valid permit, leaving them unable to report any abuse. 49. (...) This law represents a step forward in fighting the practice; however, it is insufficient to guarantee the human rights of all farm workers, in particular undocumented migrants who work in the agricultural system and who are kept in a condition of invisibility and fear because of the current system of migration law and the “law and order” attitude towards migrant workers. 56. The end of permits based on humanitarian grounds, as sanctioned by the Salvini decree, the difficulty in obtaining a permit without a residence or a legal job, the fear of not being able to renew a permit based on humanitarian grounds, the fear of self-incrimination, the absence of any alternative, little awareness of the law, linguistic barriers, the overall environment of the criminalization of migrants, the absence of strong support for integration and the intense competition for the few available jobs are underlying root causes that cannot be tackled with more criminalization alone.25 57.

LETTER DATED 2004/08/02 FROM THE CHARGEE D'AFFAIRES A.I. OF THE PERMANENT MISSION OF CUBA TO THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA ADDRESSED TO THE UNITED NATIONS HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS
The report advocates the need for continued restrictions on the granting of permits for educational visits and exchanges with United States academics, citizens and institutions, making such permits conditional on “direct support for the objectives of United States policy” towards Cuba. (...) In addition, a requirement has been introduced for a special permit for each trip, rather than a general permit, as is the practice today. (...) There has been a further tightening of the restrictions on financial operations by the Cuban State, operations which are essential in a globalized world for such basic and vital activities as the purchase of food and medicine. A Swiss bank has just been fined $100 million for accepting Cuban financial transactions employing the dollar, a currency which serves as a standard and medium for a major part of world trade.

Although sold for scrapping in the United States, the purchaser obtained permission to export the vessel. (...) Furthermore, United States law does not appear to regulate the situation where the purchaser of the pesticide is the subsidiary of the exporting party. (...) It is widely believed that Metales y Derivados obtained its Mexican environmental operating permits with false statements in its application, and possibly by bribing local environmental officials.

REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON CONTEMPORARY FORMS OF SLAVERY, INCLUDING ITS CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES, GULNARA SHAHINIAN : ADDENDUM
As she pointed out in her previous report, the simplification of the work permit issuance process is essential to allow for the legalization of migrant workers. 37. (...) With the exception of the right to apply for an extension of a work permit, only the obligations of migrant workers, including seasonal workers, are laid down in the law. (...) Moreover, the amendments introduce the requirement of advance payment of income tax in order to obtain a work permit, which could force migrant workers to stay with an employer against their will.
