VISIT TO FIJI :REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON THE RIGHT OF EVERYONE TO THE ENJOYMENT OF THE HIGHEST ATTAINABLE STANDARD OF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH, DAINIUS PŪRAS
This has involved a shift from the usual focus on addressing and reducing certain diseases or infirmity through vertical programmes towards one addressing the determinants of health through a “wellness approach”. 26. The “wellness approach” was specified in the 2015 National Wellness Policy, which laid the basis for multi-sectoral cooperation with stakeholders from outside the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to advocate and protect individuals’ health and wellness. The policy goes beyond the usual dimensions of wellness, including its social, spiritual, environmental, occupational, psychological, physical and financial dimensions. 27. (...) Thanks also to the current “wellness approach”, mental health is now included in a holistic, population-based delivery of health care.

PROGRESS IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A FLEXIBLE WORKPLACE AT UNITED NATIONS HEADQUARTERS :43RD REPORT OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON ADMINISTRATIVE AND BUDGETARY QUESTIONS ON THE PROPOSED PROGRAMME BUDGET FOR 2021
Upon enquiry, the Advisory Committee was informed that the evaluator would assess staff productivity and wellness in the flexible workplace. (...) The Advisory Committee recommends that the General Assembly request the Secretary-General to undertake a forward-looking overall assessment of the workplace at Headquarters, taking into account, inter alia, the evolving needs of the Organization; lessons learned from the flexible workplace project and the experience gained during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic; the impact of any new work modalities, including with respect to flexible work arrangements; the Secretary-General’s strategic assessment and cost-benefit analysis of the Organization’s real estate portfolio in New York (A/75/7/Add.13, para. 26; see also para. 23 below); the realization of additional efficiency gains; considerations related to productivity, occupational safety and health and staff well-being; and any relevant findings from the OIOS evaluation of the flexible workplace project. (...) A working group composed of 130 representatives of the Secretariat and the agencies, funds and programs was discussing approaches related to flexible working arrangements, technological equipment and services, staff health and well-being, culture, communication support for Member States and the requirements of duty stations away from Headquarters.
