Today, more than 150 pets were vaccinated in central Vientiane as part of a World Rabies Day drive to protect communities and raise awareness of this deadly disease – as well as ways to prevent infection.
(...) Nasar Hayat, FAO Representative, reinforced the involvement of pet owners is critical to reduce human rabies cases.
“This involvement, through the vaccination alone of our pets, can ultimately contribute to the “Zero Death by 2030” objective of the World Rabies Day,” he said.

Energy costs have been reduced by 14% by implement- ing heat recovery at syrup preparation unit, installing a frequency variator on compressors and a compressed air recovery system at PET bottle blowing machine. CO2 emissions were reduced by 464 tons/year.
(...) These included: recovery of final CIP rinse of the filling machine and of rinsing PET bottles/cans into the water treatment system for washing of sand and carbon filters and for production of softened water; installation of on- line conductivity/pH transmitters for product recovery during in- line transfer between tanks and equipment; soda recovery after cleaning of the PET and can lines. (...) This option will increase production capacity and reduce 10% of total gas consumption.
PET bottle blowing: Manufacturing of PET bottles is a key elec- tricity consumer with multi stadium compressors at 40 bars.

Nikita Lebedev detailed the origin of the SARS CoV-2 disease, as well as the generic classification of the viral family. (...) He also dispelled some myths about the interaction of animals with COVID diseases, highlighting different groups of susceptibility to the disease. ‘’The highest reported cases refer to pets. As for farm animals, which are FAO’s primary concern for food safety, I have good news for you: the overwhelming majority of farm animals are either not susceptible to the virus at all, or very strongly resist it,” stressed Mr Kobiakov.
