SUMMARY RECORD OF THE 211TH MEETING : 1ST COMMITTEE, HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 24 NOVEMBER 1948, PALAIS DE CHAILLOT, PARIS, GENERAL ASSEMBLY, 3RD SESSION
Indeed, the United States had taken the initiative in calling a second special session and had proposed placing Palestine under a Trus- teeship System, while declaring herself the cham- pion of both Jewish and Arab interests. When the proposal for placing Palestine under trus- teeship was rejected, the United States and the United Kingdom had proposed the appointment of a Mediator. (...) Adop- tion of that proposal would mean placing four- fifths of Palestine indirectly under the control of the United Kingdom.

(...) Examples of regional or national restrictions Mercury has already been eliminated from most batteries (e.g. mercuric oxide batteries) in the EU as a result of restrictions imposed by Directive 2006/66/EC on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators (Batteries Directive), which prohibits the placing on the market of batteries and accumulators containing more than 0.0005% Hg by weight. (...) There are a number of other countries that have also adopted RoHS-like restrictions setting the same limits on triband phosphor LFLs. In Europe, placing on the market of halophosphate LFLs has been effectively prohibited since 2012 when the exemption under Directive 2011/65/EU on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS Directive) expired.
