As the only woman to receive the award it was with great pleasure that I found myself in the illustrious company of Mrs Graça Machel, Dr Turkiz Gökgöl, Mrs Melinda Gates and Mrs Paula Bloomer who were awarded the FIGO Recognition Award for their work in reproductive health.   (...) At a special side-event to the 133rd IPU General Assembly, which I had to the pleasure to chair, WHO Assistant Director General Dr Flavia Bustreo made a keynote address to highlight how IPU members can stand behind the new Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health. These honours are not only a deeply touching recognition of my life’s dedication to improve sexual and reproductive health, they are also a testament to the great work of the many colleagues and partners, with whom I have had the sincere pleasure and enormous privilege to work. (...) During these three days we heard and discussed about national and international strategies concerning the protection of critic infrastructures, management of incidents, legal and governmental issues in the common effort to guarantee a free but also secure cyberspace. We saw how this common effort needs to be developed looking at a common basics legal framework, the cooperation of all the involved stakeholders, the exchange of experiences to face incidents and a close cooperation in the studies of standards. (...) The hope is that during these three days we put another brick in the wall under construction to guarantee the cybersecurity and to disseminate, when back in our respective countries, what we learnt here with so high level speakers for an efficient and effective implementation.

Ladies and gentlemen, It is a great pleasure to take part in this intersessional consultation on human rights and mental health. The only country with more than 200 million inhabitants to guarantee universal access to health, Brazil is a forefront actor in the debates in Geneva in favor of promoting the human right to health. (...) Another key milestone to guarantee the rights of people with mental disorders was the enactment, in 2015, of the “Brazilian Law for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities”, which internalized the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, affirming the civil and political rights of this population.

Microsoft Word - introductory_statement_A_73_665_Add.1 -final United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination 22 March 2019 United Nations General Assembly Seventy-third Session Fifth Committee Introduction of the Note of the Secretary-General on the report of the Joint Inspection Unit entitled: “Review of whistle-blower policies and practices in United Nations system organizations” Madam Chairperson, Distinguished Delegates, It is my pleasure today to introduce, on behalf of the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB), the note of the Secretary-General conveying his comments and those of CEB members on the report of the Joint Inspection Unit entitled “Review of whistle-blower policies and practices in United Nations system organizations” as contained in A/73/665/Add.1 Organizations of the United Nations system welcomed the report of the Joint Inspection Unit and its findings and commended the richness of its information and the usefulness of its data. (...) Organizations further observed that their respective institutional and governance structures could have been accorded greater prominence to better describe which legal and internal administrative tools are available to guarantee justice for staff members or other complainants. (...) I would like to convey to the distinguished delegates that on 25 January the CEB Secretary received a letter form the JIU Secretariat on behalf of the JIU inspectors who authored the report "requesting that the CEB correct and clarify" certain paragraphs in the Note which the inspectors deemed to "contain factual errors that could have a detrimental impact on: a) the credibility of the report and the JIU; and b) the protection of key informants who participated in the review with guarantees of full confidentiality". In a spirit of collegiality, the secretary of the CEB held a detailed telephone consultation with the Inspector in order to discuss and agree on the process of handling these concerns within the established working methods.
