Adolescents and youths aged 10 to 24 are committed to raising awareness about HIV among their peers.

These young people regularly conduct awareness-raising activities in 27 cultural structures as part of a project implemented by the reading and cultural animation centres network (réseau des centres de lecture et d’animation Culturelle - CLAC) funded with support from UNICEF and the Global Fund. (...) Yasmine is one of the 163,658 adolescents and youths who decided get tested following the project's awareness-raising activities. Now aware of the importance of knowing her serological status, the young teenager shyly says "If I have a boyfriend, I will ask him to get tested, and I will also do it so that we are both protected.”
(...) As a result of the project's awareness-raising sessions, 151,968 adolescents and young people took the plunge and were tested.

Vientiane, 29 Oct ober 2021 – The Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICT) and UNICEF, alongside partners including the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), the European Union (EU) and USAID, today officially launched the second season of the popular Early Childhood Development (ECD) TV series “My House”, which aims to promote young Lao children’s physical, cognitive, social and emotional development, as well as their learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is my hope that My House will act as an important tool for parents to help facilitate their children’s learning during this challenging time and raise their awareness on hygiene practices that can help keep them safe from COVID-19,” said H.E .

New survey shows overwhelming popular support for smoke-free indoor public places

The recently released 2018 China Adult Tobacco Survey, as part of the Global Adult Tobacco Survey, showed that China is making progress in tobacco control in the past eight years, but more actions are needed to effectively decrease the smoking prevalence to 20 percent by 2030, the target set in Healthy China 2030.
According to the 2018 China Adult Tobacco Survey, there was overwhelming popular support for smoke-free indoor places (over 90%). (...) Increasing tobacco price by raising tobacco tax is the single most effective measure to reduce tobacco use, as shown by evidence and practices from many countries, including China.
