VISIT TO SWITZERLAND : REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON THE RIGHT TO DEVELOPMENT
The Special Rapporteur was encouraged to learn that Switzerland operated a generalized system of preferences for developing countries, meaning that the agricultural products of those countries can be imported at a lower rate of duty. (...) Generalized systems of trade preferences are not enough in themselves to encourage imports from least developed countries. (...) It is focused on equality in employment relationships and applies to all private and public employment relationships, regardless of the size of the employer or number of employees; private households; multinational companies; municipalities; public institutions, such as hospitals and schools; and the federal administration and large public entities.

LETTER DATED 7 OCTOBER 2020 FROM THE PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF MALAWI TO THE UNITED NATIONS ADDRESSED TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL
We urge our development partners, countries of both the North and the South, the United Nations development system, multilateral development banks, the International Monetary Fund, the private sector and foundations to act o n our calls as early as possible. (...) This could affect many LDCs that are highly de- pendent on foreign investors both for export-oriented industrial activity and in public- private partnership projects in infrastructure development such as power generation plants and industrial parks. (...) It is a matter of concern that foreign investors overstate domestic risks and we invite national, regional and global development banks to play an instrumental role in mo- bilizing private capital for specific projects, through co-financing, providing risk guarantees and other instruments.

We also call upon creditors, both public and private, for additional effective measures to facilitate financing of our economic development, including access to both concessional and non-concessional resources for investment in critically needed infrastructure and development projects. (...) (d) Facilitating increased access to other means of financing, including private finance, green bond financing and GDP-indexed bonds. (...) (g) Legal assistance to transition from the EU’s Everything But Arms to the enhanced Generalised Scheme of Preferences to mitigate abrupt loss of preferences as the GSP+ offers an additional preference (in some cases comparable with the EBA).

REPORT OF THE INDEPENDENT EXPERT ON THE ENJOYMENT OF ALL HUMAN RIGHTS BY OLDER PERSONS ON HER MISSION TO MONTENEGRO :NOTE / BY THE SECRETARIAT
Awareness-raising and sensitization needed to target specifically the private sphere and informal carers, particularly as collective prejudice against older persons and public awareness influenced the way in which abuse and violence was perceived, recognized and reported. 32. (...) It also covered accessibility to public transport, public and private properties and services, and equality under law and before State and other authorities. (...) Problems occurred when an older person, who had been prescribed medical examinations or medicine, could not obtain them in public health institutions (including public pharmacies), so had to go to private health institutions and pay for the examinations and medicine.

REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON THE RIGHT OF EVERYONE TO THE ENJOYMENT OF THE HIGHEST ATTAINABLE STANDARD OF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH, ANAND GROVER :ADDENDUM
These include the fact that out-of- pocket private expenditure is already capped at certain rates, which renders private health care relatively affordable for those that prefer to utilize it and have the means to do so, and reduces the pressure on the public system.12 This effectively obviates the need for insurance in most cases, other than in respect of unforeseeable and costly medical events, for which insurance could be used effectively as a supplement.
