Statement by the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Network (NAMYN)
addressed to the United Nations Human Rights Council
We, the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Network,
Express our appreciation for the significant role the United Nations Human Right Council
has been playing in promoting and protecting human rights, since its establishment 16 years
ago;
Underline the utmost importance of fulfilment by all Member States of their obligations
related to the protection of all universally recognized human rights and fundamental freedoms
for all, in accordance with the UN Charter, and the international law;
Stress that all human rights, including the right to development, are universal, inalienable,
indivisible, interdependent and interrelated;
Call on the adequate attention to be given to the issues of poverty, underdevelopment,
discrimination and marginalization, social and economic exclusion, lack of access to quality
education, healthcare, and decent work, which have been further exacerbated following the
spread of the COVID-19 pandemic;
Urge fair distribution of safe, quality and affordable vaccines among all countries, which is
vital for the soonest elimination of the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences;
Stress the right of everyone to have access to safe and nutritious food consistent with the
right to food and the fundamental right of everyone to be free from hunger, so as to be able
to fully develop and maintain his or her physical and mental capacities;
Urge the promotion of the full enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms on an
equal basis for persons with disabilities, and the promotion of disability-inclusive
development;
Call for ensuring durable solutions for internally displaced persons, including their voluntary
return in safety and with dignity, and restoration of their human rights;
Strongly condemn all forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related
intolerance, including the platforms and activities related thereto, which constitute serious
violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as impede equal opportunities;
Stress that everyone has the right to live in an environment that is ecologically sound and
conducive to good health;
Call upon all States to take requisite measures in tackling climate change to prevent its
considerable negative impact on ensuring human rights enshrined in the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights;
Emphasize the need for all States to undertake efforts to promote tolerance, dialogue and
understanding among civilizations, cultures and religions, and call in this regard, on all
Member States to devote the highest priority to these issues in educational programs;
Express concern at the gross violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms, in
particular the right to life and the right to development, resulting from acts of terrorism and
violent extremism, and condemn all acts, methods and practices of terrorism in all its forms
and manifestations;
A/HRC/49/G/15
GE.22-04757 3
Urge all States to ensure that their national laws or legislations, particularly those in the field
of combatting terrorism do not limit individual rights, and are not discriminatory or
xenophobic;
Call upon all States, and the wider international community to extend their support for the
effective functioning of the Human Rights Council, without any politicization, double
standards, and selectivity.

REPORT OF THE GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT FACILITY TO THE CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES : NOTE / BY THE SECRETARIAT
The GEF has been funding several programs for supporting effective and
efficient implementation of the convention through the Nationals Dialog Initiative (NDI),
Country Support Program (CSP), and capacity building through National Capacity Self
Assessment (NCSA), cross-cutting capacity building, as well as the Small Grants Program (SGP).
(...) Three such examples merit particular mention: (1) the Pacific
Alliance for Sustainability (PAS) Program; (2) the Strategic Investment Program for Sustainable
Land Management in Sub-Saharan Africa; and (3) the West Africa Program.
(...) One of the key reforms implemented under GEF-4 is the opportunity for direct
consultation between a country and the GEF Secretariat in developing country programs. These
dialogues together with the Country Support Program have enhanced the capacity of the countries
to develop projects for GEF funding.
