Further to the decisions of the parent bodies, the Group of Experts is expected to complete its work on its tasks below: (a) Task (c) of the Terms of Reference: Draft a document (or systems of documents) on Unified Railway Law which could be adopted as a legally binding instrument: At its twenty-second session, the Group of Experts continued its work towards elaboration of the Unified Railway Law (URL) as a system of conventions. In particular, the Group of Experts discussed alterations proposed by the Russian Federation in ECE/TRANS/SC.2/GEURL/2020/5 to the provisions on the contract for international carriage of goods by rail contained in ECE/TRANS/2016/15. (...) The Group of Experts agreed to continue its discussion on the alterations and is expected to agree the changes for inclusion in ECE/TRANS/SC.2/GEURL/2021/3, which is prepared to support the elaboration of the first convention of the URL system of conventions on the contract for international carriage of goods by rail. Based on the inputs provided, the Group of Experts is expected to consider and agree on issues relevant to international carriage of goods by railways for which specific conventions constituting the systems of URL conventions may need to be developed. Reducing food loss and waste also has the potential to contribute to other SDGs, including the Zero Hunger goal (SDG 2), which calls for an end to hunger, the achievement of food security and improved nutrition, and the promotion of sustainable agriculture.
