Launched by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), with support from the European Union (EU), the UPSHIFT Ukraine programme is empowering young people in Mariupol by developing their social entrepreneurial skills and providing funds for youth-driven projects.

“Walking with Mrs X”: the board game

Walking with Mrs X is an innovative board game, based on the iconic “Why Did Mrs X Die, retold” film, and provides a stimulating and interactive approach to learning about, and promoting, safer childbirth in all regions and countries of the world. (...) This game enables players to understand the problems these mothers face by using a counter to follow the path their own pregnant woman, Mrs. (...) London Olympic and Paralympic Games 2012
In 2005, the regeneration of East London was at the heart of the bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. (...) Sustainability was one of the key bid promises of London 2012. Making the Games the most sustainable of modern times and helping to provide a healthy lasting legacy part of the package that differentiated the London Games proposition from other bids. (...) Partnership working was essential to deliver all aspects of London 2012: success was achieved by commitment from the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), Government, partner organisations and contractors working together to deliver the Games sustainability aspirations.

Dujarric added that the UN chief believes that sport has a particularly important role to play in promoting and implementing the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and that the Paralympic Movement provides a catalyst for lasting change.
Separately today, the UN Children’s Fund ( UNICEF ) highlighted that the Paralympic Games prove that an individual’s ability, and not their disability, defines what they can accomplish.
The agency also released a video featuring football players, including Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona, pitted in a game against Spain’s national 5-a-side blind football teams.
(...) The release added that this week also marked the 10th anniversary of the UNICEF-FC Barcelona Foundation partnership that has provided access to education, sport and play to more than a million children who might otherwise be excluded from such opportunities.

The Recommendations for the Online Gaming Industry on Assessing Impact on Children – compiled with extensive inputs from the industry – highlight some of the key child rights considerations for online gaming companies of all kinds, from game developers, publishers, distributors, platforms, esports companies and streaming services. They build on a UNICEF Discussion Paper on Online Gaming and Child Rights published in 2019 and extensive engagement with the online gaming community.
