The fourth session of the EuFMD in 1957 established a Technical Committee to which it delegated responsibility for guidance on specific technical issues, including the design of a co-ordinated program of studies on vaccines and vaccination, and issues such as standardization of tests used for international trade. (...) The Research group contribute to resolving technical issues through review of the latest research, will provide expert scientific opinion as a result of their individual expertise in FMD research, and who are composed of members who have as a result of their national responsibilities a continuous involvement with scientific disciplines in FMD diagnosis, surveillance, vaccinology or epidemiology. The Zanzibar Health Research Institute, hereafter abbreviated as ZAHRI is
expected to became fully operational in July 2018. right now working under
the legal act no 125 of 02 January 2018.
The vision of ZAHRI is to conduct, coordinate, regulate and promote
scientifically and ethically sound, high quality health research and deliver
evidence-based information that is responsive to the needs of human well-
being in the society.
ZAHRI aims in promoting health research and utilise the research findings for
alleviating health related problems in Zanzibar
Core values
Its core values include upholding Integrity, Accountability, Unity, Innovation, Quality, and Ethical consideration in health research
Objectives of the institute
Ensuring that research conducted by ZAHRI are online with national health research priorities and policy and addresses global health problems also aims in addressing health research institutionally ,nationally and internationally.
Identifying, promoting band developing special talents among ZAHRI researchers and support staff with a view to develop a critical mass research scientists and support staff in ZAHRI
Encouraging collaborative research between scientists within ZAHRI and researches in other research and development institutions within and outside the country
Promoting ,assisting and undertaking research that meets the highest international scientific standards of excellence and ethics and that pertains to all aspects of health ,including biomedical research, clinical research and research respecting health system ,health services ,the health of the populations, societal and cultural dimensions of health and environmental influences on health.
