REPORT ON THE WORK OF THE BUREAU OF THE COMMITTEE ON SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY : NOTE / BY THE SECRETARIAT
He called on Bureau members to identify in their respective regions those
activities that can be undertaken while the political process of approval of the work programme
of the CST gets under way.
(...) Bureau members were urged to undertake consultations in their
respective regions with a view to consolidating these inputs in the guidelines evolved by the
secretariat. (...) The Secretary of the CST introduced the respective COP 8 decisions on the functioning
of the CST, the roster of independent experts, networking of institutions, the Land Degradation
Assessment in Drylands (LADA) project and the UNCCD fellowship programme and, after
deliberating on each one, the Bureau decided the following:
(a) The Bureau of the CST should hold two meetings per year.

Reiterate their conviction that the establishment of militarily denuclearized
zones is closely related to the maintenance of peace and security in the respective
regions and that the military denuclearization of vast geographical zones, adopted by
sovereign decision of States comprised therein, has exercised a beneficial influence
on other regions.

regard, call on nuclear-weapon States that issued interpretative declarations to the
Additional Protocols I and II to the Treaty of Tlatelolco which are contrary to the
letter and spirit of the Treaty, to examine them together with OPANAL aiming at
revising or eliminating them in order to provide full and unequivocal security
assurances to the States of the Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Latin America and the
Caribbean; and to respect the militarily denuclearized character of the region.

Notes that peacebuilding financing remains a critical challenge, and there-
fore takes note of the General Assembly decision to convene a high-level meeting in
the seventy-sixth session to advance, explore and consider options for ensuring ade-
quate, predictable and sustained financing for peacebuilding, and to invite, starting in
the seventy-fifth session, the relevant United Nations bodies and organs, including the
Peacebuilding Commission, in accordance with respective mandates, to present inputs
in advance for Member States’ consideration and discussion at this meeting, and to
affirm a commitment to pursuing action-oriented outcomes;

Migration Service.

The UNSRSG has acknowledged the importance of NHRIs in securing respect for human rights in the
corporate sphere.7
5. (...) The State must thus provide an environment that facilitates implementation of the respective re-
sponsibilities of other actors: “The private business sector, both national and transnational, should pur-
sue its activities within the framework of a code of conduct conducive to respect of the right to ade-
quate food, agreed upon jointly with the Government and civil society.”16 Accordingly, the UN Eco-
nomic and Social Rights Committee has defined the right to food as:
“…realized when every man, woman and child, alone or in community with others, has physical and
