This involved referring to a large number of empirical studies on science-policy communication in UNCCD and on the work of existing science-advisory bodies, such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), as well as to recent scientific research on science-policy communication. REPORT ON THE WORK OF THE BUREAU OF THE COMMITTEE ON SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY : NOTE / BY THE SECRETARIAT

The agendas will generally include presentations by partners on: theory and practice related to the ocean science-policy interface; the relationship between ocean governance and the ocean science-policy interface; the application of an integrated approach to the science-policy interface; the links between the science- policy interface and society, including ocean users; the role of citizen science and traditional, indigenous and local knowledge; methodologies for evaluating the effectiveness of the science-policy interface and identifying gaps and needs; and best practices and lessons learned in strengthening the ocean science-policy interface. THE SCIENCE-POLICY INTERFACE, THE UNCCD KNOWLEDGE HUB, AND THE ANALYSIS, DISSEMINATION AND ACCESSIBILITY OF BEST PRACTICES.

Building on science and existing expertise, priorities identified through dedicated international processes as well as by countries at the national level, our action specifically focuses on the following: a) Sustainable Food Systems: the objective is to support governments, farmers, food systems workers, the private sector, and other relevant stakeholders to have access to science-based knowledge, strategic approaches, guidance and tools as well as financial resources to implement transformative actions towards sustainable food systems. (...) Emphasis will be put on data and science-driven decision-making for sustainable consumption and production at the national level through enhanced access to knowledge, capacity development and progress monitoring to empower stakeholders and facilitate an inclusive delivery. (...) c) Invest in training and innovative communication based on science for empowered sustainable consumption and production advocacy, engaging with leading media partners and networks.
