The Law on asylum provides that asylum-seeking children have the right to elementary and secondary education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. (...) The enrolment of asylum-seeking children in formal education does not seem to be a countrywide practice, however, partly due to the complex and highly fragmented education system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Initially, ethnic Croats benefited primarily from the reconstruction of houses, and only in 2003, once the reconstruction of houses belonging to ethnic Croats had been largely completed, did Croatian Serbs become the main beneficiaries of assistance. (...) Roma families in Croatia live mainly in urban areas, often in informal settlements without ownership titles or permits for building their houses.31 Many Roma settlements are not recognized by the municipal authorities, as houses built on socially owned land are considered to be illegal. (...) Families in Roma settlements live in houses and apartments but also in shacks, abandoned cabins, barracks and board huts.

There were about 30,000 fewer houses in the public housing stock between 1996 and 2004.22 Although public housing has decreased over the years, the demand has steadily increased. (...) “Secondary homelessness” refers to those moving frequently from one form of temporary shelter to another, including people using emergency accommodation, people residing temporarily with other households and those using boarding houses on a short-term basis. “Tertiary homelessness” refers to people who live in boarding houses on a medium- to long-term basis. (...) On the contrary, there is a tendency to sell houses to the private market, particularly to get rid of the houses needing most repairs.42 Second, the demand for public housing is very high, and will continue to rise.

(...) Numerous sources suggest continuing violations of the rights to property during the reporting period53: for example, according to the report, which partially covers the reporting period, “the demarcation activities led to the loss of access to the family houses for several residents living adjacent to the administrative boundary line, in violation of their right to home and family life. (...) Even after the 2008 war they had been consistently trying to refurbish those houses that were damaged by the conflict and continued living there with their families. . .
