Lumpy Skin Disease Contingency Plan Template & Emergency Vaccination Plan
(This template has been developed by FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia)
Introduction
FAO has developed two complementary documents/guides to aid veterinary services in their preparedness against lumpy skin disease (LSD), namely:
A Lumpy Skin Disease Contingency Plan to guide veterinary services in the development of their own national LSD contingency plans
Appendix I - A list of template questions for risk assessment for Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD)
Appendix II - Guide to Develop a Lumpy Skin Disease emergency vaccination plan to help central level veterinary services to develop an emergency vaccination plan for an outbreak (or anticipated outbreak) of LSD. (...) Appendix IV - Prevention measures against Lumpy Skin Disease
An LSD contingency plan is as a key instrument for preparedness and control of a disease emergency. (...) The contingency plan should be revised and improved whenever necessary and at least once every five years.

For Candice Alcayde, from the Philippines , who gave birth during the COVID-19 pandemic, skin-to-skin contact was very important.
After Candice Alcayde’s baby was delivered with a Caesarean section, he was immediately dried thoroughly per EENC clinical protocol, then put in skin-to-skin contact with Candice. (...) Borrero
“After undergoing a stressful caesarean section, the skin-to-skin contact helped me and my baby relax and calm down. (...) “I was able to experience 90 minutes of skin-to-skin contact with my baby. Having a doctor who supported skin-to-skin contact, especially at this time, made all the difference.”
